We’re looking for an experienced events manager to work with our team to deliver a high quality, engaging and internationally relevant, Techweek Festival of Events.

Overview

Following the success of the nationwide Techweek’17 event, we’re now planning for an even bigger and better Techweek festival in 2018 to inspire NZ’s bright minds and tackle global challenges with local ingenuity. Key to this, is appointment of a Festival Manager.

The purpose of this new role is to develop and raise the profile of Techweek and to deliver a high quality, engaging, sustainable and internationally relevant, Techweek Festival of Events.

This is a diverse role with the following key objectives:

  1. Strategic and tactical development of the Techweek Festival
  2. Event programme design and curation
  3. Strategic partnerships development and management
  4. Coordinate and connect event organisers, venues, etc.

Key Responsibilities

The Festival Manager is part of the Techweek Management Team and is responsible for:

  • Festival Programme Development
  • Techweek Management of headline events
  • Community Engagement
  • Management of city partner relationships
  • Lead the recruitment of events, venues, exhibitors and sponsors
  • Approval of events into the programme including quality control of website event listings
  • Track progress against plans, deliverables, KPI’s and targets.
  • Administer and track the Techweek ’18 festival budget

Success Factors

For this key role the ideal candidate will have:

  • Collaborative in their approach to working
  • At least five year’s experience managing large-scale events, including programme design, planning and management
  • Experience in liaising with sponsors and other stakeholders
  • Experience in building and engaging with community groups, ideal.
  • An understanding of legal health and safety requirements associated with public events.
  • Knowledge of the tech and entrepreneurial ecosystem in New Zealand and an understanding of their needs.
  • Experience working with virtual project teams preferred (but not essential).
  • Exceptional relationship management skills with the ability to engage and influence
  • Collaborative in their approach to working
  • Able to manage a complex range of stakeholder relationships
  • Excellent planning and communications skills.

The small print

  • This is a full time contract role through to end June 2018, based in central Auckland.
  • You must have the right to live and work in New Zealand to apply for this job.
  • You must be able to travel within New Zealand as required.
  • You must be able to attend events and other off-site functions outside of normal business hours, as required.
  • You must hold a valid driver’s license.
