NZTech Chair rates high calibre of 2016 Board nominees

Board nominations have closed and electronic voting is now open with 19 nominees vying for 4 available positions on the NZTech Board.

“Not only have we had a tremendous response with a strong number of nominations, but the high calibre of nominees means we have a greater opportunity to promote the tech sector to New Zealand and beyond,” says NZTech Board Chair, Bennett Medary.

The 2016 AGM will mark another milestone in the continued growth and strategic relevance of NZTech. The past year has seen both membership and influence expand as the strategy of focusing on connecting, promoting and advancing the sector begins to show progress.  This includes the recent release of Digital Nation New Zealand, From Tech Sector to Digital Nation.

“NZTech has developed greatly during the past 12 months and one of the key drivers for this success has been the diversity of our board.  In line with our Board Diversity Policy we are encouraged to see a diverse range of nominees to help us both accelerate our strategies and ensure diverse thinking,” he says.

“With electronic voting now open we encourage our members to consider who they feel would best help NZTech continue to make an impact.  The main strategy focus for the year ahead is to promote the sector as an essential future for New Zealand.  To do this we need individuals with experience in developing our exposure locally and internationally.  It is up to our members to vote for a strong board so we can have a resounding impact on the tech sector and New Zealand’s prosperity.”

Electronic voting is open and closes on 8 July.  Main contacts in NZTech Members organisations are eligible to vote.  The new Board will be announced at the AGM Member Event on Thursday 21st July in Auckland.
