Techweek reveals 2019 programme: Innovation that’s good for the world

New Zealand’s annual festival of innovation is back with hundreds of events set to run across New Zealand during Techweek19, from 20-26 May. Techweek19 continues to focus on the theme innovation that’s good for the world.

Events fall under two key categories: events that build capability and those that inspire the next generation, with highlight events showcasing all areas of the sector with a focus on inclusion and diversity.

Chief Executive of NZTech Graeme Muller says that Techweek19 is an opportunity for New Zealanders to be inspired by technology and innovation that’s good for the world, and learn about how they can get involved in one of the country’s biggest and most exciting sectors.

“New Zealand is full of big dreamers, smart collaborators and ingenious thinkers, and this year we celebrate those people and their projects, and give people all over the country the chance to interact with those leading the way in tech.

“I’m especially excited by our Programme Highlights that feature a number of events encouraging inclusion in tech – from the Vector Lights on Auckland Harbour Bridge being designed by children for the first time, to Maori tech, to TechgirlsNZ which is run by two teenage girls looking to engage other girls with the tech sector.”

Event submissions for Techweek19 remain open until 8 April – for more information visit techweek.co.nz.

The finalists for the NZ Hi-Tech Awards have also just been revealed. The winners will be announced at the gala dinner on 24 May at Auckland’s Spark Arena. For a list of finalists and more information visit hitech.org.nz.
