NZTech Inform – Emerging Tech Opportunities

Kia ora Readers,

Last week, I spent quite a bit of time with different members of the Tech Alliance. Working with more than 20 tech associations and over 800 members constantly reinforces how wide ranging New Zealand’s capability and success is across tech.

I joined James Brown from FinTechNZ in a presentation to a Parliamentary select committee about FinTech and blockchain opportunities for New Zealand. I also attended a meeting with BIOTechNZ’s  Zahra Champion to discuss current research identifying New Zealand’s competitive advantages in biotech, such as our clinical trials environment.

This week includes Digital Identity, IoT, Data Science and getting cool New Zealand tech stories into a Netflix series. There’s never a dull moment!

Speaking of great New Zealand tech stories, watch the highlights from last month’s NZ Hi-Tech Awards Gala Dinner. It was the biggest and best celebration yet and next year the NZ Hi-Tech Awards will be hosted in Wellington.

Coming next week, is the release of the Government’s 2019 NZ Cyber Security Strategy followed by the launch of ‘From the Knowledge Wave to the Digital Age’, both on 2 July.

Ngā mihi
