Visit Tech AllianceWelcome to Alert Level 2. With so much going on, you may have missed just how significant the budget was for New Zealand’s tech ecosystem. The Government’s respond, recover, rebuild media release captures many of the highlights, including:
NZTech’s purpose is ‘to help create a prosperous New Zealand underpinned by technology’, and the recent COVID-19 crisis appears to have dramatically lifted the Government’s understanding of how critical tech is for New Zealand. It has shown tech as an enabler for communication, learning, productivity and for new export opportunities. I am looking forward to working with our ecosystem to help the economy recover, grow and prosper.
From a social perspective, COVID-19 has increased our reliance on the internet for work, learning and socialising. However, it has also highlighted how many New Zealanders are excluded from the digital world.
