Callaghan Innovation and Te Wānanga o Aotearoa have announced the fourth Kōkiri cohort, the accelerator for Māori-led startups. It’s great to see a wide range of tech-enabled businesses, including edtech, e-sports, fintech and non-fungible tokens (NFTs). The 2022 cohort includes 26 founders across 10 startups, representing an exciting mix of experiences and skillsets.

In a perfect example of NZ Inc working together, NZTech has joined the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE), New Zealand Trade and Enterprise (NZTE), Callaghan Innovation and the Angel Investors Association to co-invest in ensuring New Zealand’s startup and scaleup ecosystem is included in the global Startup Genome analysis in 2022. A country analysis of New Zealand is being prepared as part of this ongoing global analysis and comparison of startup ecosystems. I’m looking forward to seeing how we compare.

Ngā mihi,
