NZTech Inform – Kiwi success stories

Kia Ora,

Last week, I was in Wellington for our inaugural Life Sciences Summit celebrating biotech for a better tomorrow. From climate change, alternative proteins, precision foods, carbon recycling, gene editing and synthetic biology, we covered it all! Personal highlights included, hearing from the leaders of a growing number of Kiwi success stories including Aroa BiosurgeryLanzaTech and Mint.

LanzaTech’s Sean Simpson explored a new era of life science growth and the University of Auckland’s Cather Simpson examined the global challenges New Zealand innovators can be at the forefront of solving. Special thanks to the Hon Dr Ayesha VerrallProfessor Dame Juliet Gerrard, BioTechNZ’s Zahra Champion, MC Victoria Metcalf and Wellington’s Mayor Tory Whanau (pictured above). During the summit, our roundtables discussed the commercialisation journey, manufacturing in clinical development, biocontrols, when to list your company and leveraging the Wellington Science cluster.

This week, I am looking forward to joining the signatories of The Code of Practice for Online Safety as we take the administration of the Code to the next level. Later in the week, New Zealand’s Software-as-a-Service practitioners also convene for the annual Southern SaaS conference.

The Techweek23 team is finalising the preliminary programme and feature events. It’s not too late to submit your event, the last call for submissions is 12 April. Techweek is the focal point for learning more about our booming sector, a chance to discover the latest tech, for kids to try new things and to showcase our best tech to the world. If your event is run by a not-for-profit organisation, community group or community educator, you may also qualify to have the listing fee waived. Don’t forget if you’re considering booking a stand at our Tomorrow Expo in Auckland 10-12 May, please make use of our special rates for members
