Digital Tech ITP launches!

We are pleased to announce the launch of The Digital Technologies Industry Transformation Plan (ITP) and our new look website.

For several years, the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE) and industry (led by NZTech) have worked together to develop a vision for the longer term growth of our sector:

The world looks to Aotearoa New Zealand as a leader in ethical, innovative, inclusive and sustainable digital technologies. These technologies enable our economy to prosper, help our business to grow stronger and compete internationally, and contribute to the wellbeing of all New Zealanders.

Thank you to everyone who has provided valuable feedback during the ITP’s consultation phase. Feedback has supported its actions to accelerate long term growth in the sector and the final ITP reflects a consistently high degree of engagement from our sector.

The ITP is a living document that will evolve over time. Currently, it includes actions to:

●     grow our export successes, including the Software-as-a-Service subsector

●     build our national reputation around tech and innovation

●     invest in digital skills and talent for the tech sector and related industries

●     build Māori participation and leadership in the digital technologies sector.

To date, $35 million has been committed by the Government to a range of initiatives that are already underway. This includes the creation of a Software as a Service community, targeted implementation of the Digital Skills and Talent Plan and the successful 2022 launch of the New Zealand Tech Story.

A Digital Technologies ITP Partnership Board has been established to support the ongoing implementation of the ITP. This is made up of a diverse group of representatives from industry bodies, sector leaders and government.

Digital Tech ITP The Digital Technologies Industry Transformation Plan is an industry / government collaboration to help grow the digital technologies sector as part of the New Zealand Government’s industry policy.
