Let’s get serious about Digital Safety for New Zealanders

Kia ora,

From living our lives online; to the proliferation of internet enabled devices in our physical environments — the ubiquity of technology in modern life makes it imperative we consider the potential for harm from platforms, services, and devices, whilst ensuring we are still able to maximise the benefits of technology.

I’m very happy to be working alongside NetSafe to bring the crucial conversation about digital safety to Wellington in July with the first Wellington Dialogues – our new annual Tech Policy Conference. This event will bring policy makers and tech changemakers together to envision a digitally safer New Zealand.

Now is the time for Aotearoa to act to provide frameworks, guidelines, and regulations to protect citizens, consumers and users of digital content and services. Responsive and effective regulatory frameworks are a global imperative to create a safe environment for continued innovation by the technology industry.

Early bird tickets are available now, join us and be part of the dialogue, the solution and the consultation that will continue to shape how New Zealanders live and interact in an increasingly digitally-enabled world. See you there.

One more thing… Techweek24 is one week away! The programme features more than 250 events nationwide, get involved!

Ngā mihi
