Visit Tech AllianceKia ora,
I’m really looking forward to a busy and high-impact March across our NZTech Group communities, with a raft of opportunities to strengthen our connections, build capability, and accelerate change. Here’s what’s coming up:
Celebrating International Women’s Day with TechWomen
Highlighting ‘Micro Changes for Macro Impact,’ at our TechWomen networking event you’ll learn how small actions can lead to positive change in your career and for your community. Join us for this free (for members!) lunchtime event on Wednesday at Media Design School in Auckland and online.
A watershed year for fintech in Aotearoa
The FinTechNZ Hui Taumata on 11 March at Shed 10, Auckland is the forum for crucial discussions about legislative changes and the opportunities they bring. The programme promises insights from global thought leaders like Dr Bill Roberts, as well as a rallying cry to be bold from homegrown success stories Sam Stubbs and Nicola Taylor. It’s also the best time of year for networking and celebrating our powerhouse fintech industry together. I hope to see you there!
Big changes for our science sector
With the recently announced science, innovation and research system changes, and the development of the gene technology bill, 2025 is a pivotal moment for our biotech and life sciences industries. We need to come together to discuss how to shape these changes into positive outcomes for everyone in Aotearoa. Luckily, our third annual Life Sciences Summit is coming up on 18-19 March at Tākina Wellington Convention Centre. What better opportunity to bring our whole community under one roof to tackle the challenges and opportunities we all face during this time of transition?
Cyber risks on the rise?
Our 11th annual Cyber Security Summit is coming up and the topic has arguably never been more important. It’s our chance as a community to better understand how we can use tech to safeguard our businesses and productivity. With risks on the rise, staying informed is key for any tech-powered enterprise, so I encourage you to join me in Wellington on 24-25 March!
Other news and opportunities
I’m looking forward to reading the AI Forum’s 2nd AI Productivity Report, which will be released in late March. With such a rapidly evolving AI landscape, it’s incredibly valuable to have fresh insights and actionable data on how AI is changing the face of New Zealand business—boosting productivity and transforming the future work. You can review the details from the first report here.
It’s exciting to see events from across the community flowing in for Techweek25—running nationwide from 19-25 May—and I’m looking forward to seeing the programme go live later this month. Thanks to the support of our sponsors, it’s free and easier than ever to run an event during Aotearoa’s festival for tech and innovation. We encourage you to be involved as a sponsor, event organiser and naturally, as an attendee! We’re looking for strategic sponsors to support our Techweek25 key pillars: Developing Careers and Skills and Sustainability. Do you know a forward-thinking organisation that’s keen to accelerate the growth of tech that’s good for people and planet? Get in touch with the team.
The Best Places to Work Annual Engagement Survey is open, and it’s an excellent tool to assess your employee experience and gain valuable insights to help drive innovation, consistency, improvement, and growth across your business. We were proud to support the tech and tools category at last year’s Awards, and to cheer on NZTech Group members Auror, LawVu, Tax Traders and Taxi as they took out their categories and proved that good tech really is all about people. I hope to see more members representing at this year’s awards!
For me, March is all about strengthening connections within our communities. It’s giving our community leaders plenty of opportunities to connect with members so we can better understand how our work helps you get on with the business of tech.
Together we can build a better, fairer and more resilient Aotearoa.
Ngā mihi nui,
Graeme Muller
