NZTech Inform: Fintech momentum

#

Kia ora,

With Minister Bayly’s recent resignation and Minister Simpson stepping into the Commerce portfolio we hope the momentum for fintech and blockchain growth continues. Two weeks ago, the FMA’s regulatory sandbox application window closed with dozens of submissions – a promising sign for innovation.

This sandbox provides a supervised environment where fintech and blockchain companies can test innovative new products, services, or business models. By lowering barriers to entry for fintech innovators, the sandbox pilot aims to accelerate the development of digital products to meet the evolving needs of New Zealand’s financial services consumers. FinTechNZ explains more about the sandbox here. I’m looking forward to learning more at the hui tomorrow.

Tomorrow: FinTechNZ Hui Taumata

Join us for crucial discussions about legislative changes and the opportunities they bring. We’re looking forward to insights from global thought leaders like Dr Bill Roberts and sharing local success stories, too. Join us in Auckland tomorrow to celebrate our powerhouse fintech industry together.

Next week: Unleashing innovation

Join us on 18-19 March at Tākina Wellington Convention Centre for the Life Sciences Summit where we will unpack the changes in the science sector, the new gene regulations and more.

It’s also been fantastic to see so many events across Aotearoa leading up to International Women’s Day (8 March). I am extremely proud of our TechWomen community which brought together 100 people in person and another 100 online for an inspiring discussion.

One piece of advice for driving change that resonated with me, “we need both the radical people and the quiet people to really address the complexity of change.”

Ngā mihi nui,
