Visit Tech AllianceKia ora,
It’s been a big few weeks across the NZTech community, from powerful conversations on biotech, fintech to cyber resilience and new partnerships that put people at the centre of tech. Here’s what you need to know this week:
At last week’s National Cyber Security Summit, we saw an extraordinary level of collaboration between government, industry and security professionals. Highlights from day one included a thought-provoking conversation I moderated with Andrew Hampton and Andrew Clark on securing innovation. A key takeaway?
“Geostrategic competition is interested in you,” no matter your organisation’s size. Panel discussions on future-proofing cybersecurity offered practical frameworks to help organisations strengthen their resilience.
Day two continued with valuable insights from the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) on vulnerability management and Simon Martin provided clear, practical legal guidance on breach response.
What resonated most throughout the summit was the strong focus on people – from user awareness and leadership in crisis to building a culture of security. As threats grow increasingly sophisticated, it’s this collaborative approach of technical, legal and human-centred approaches that will shape a safer digital future for Aotearoa. A big thank you to Brightstar for partnering with us to deliver this essential national conversation.
We’re delighted to announce the Techweek25 preliminary programme is now live, and it’s already shaping up to be one of our most exciting yet!
We’re proudly launching the week at Deloitte in Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland with what’s sure to be a powerful discussion at Collective Imagining: A Brighter, Tech-Enabled Future for Aotearoa — register now to be part of the conversation. Across the country, events are rolling in: the AI Forum will host the second annual AI in Creative Industries Summit over two days and two cities, discussing the impact and opportunity of AI across film, VFX, gaming, and design. Register for Day 1 in Auckland here or for Day 2 in Wellington here.
In Kirikiriroa Hamilton, TUANZ brings you the Connecting Aotearoa Summit, bringing together experts with a vision of getting every New Zealander connected. In Te Whanganui-a-Tara Wellington the popular Growth Jam returns, and tech’s night of nights, the Hi-Tech Awards Gala Dinner takes over TSB Arena on Friday 23 May. Finalists were announced last week, so book your tickets while you still can! Down south, CanterburyTech will host another impactful TechFest in Christchurch, and Queenstown will once again showcase world-class hospitality and tourism tech with Host-Tech 2025.
This is only the beginning, with hundreds more events to be added over the next fortnight, the Techweek25 programme is growing fast. Keep checking back to discover new opportunities to connect, learn and be inspired. Techweek25 is proudly brought to you by NZTech, powered by Deloitte, with support from our strategic sponsors NZTE, AWS, Xero, and Airwallex.

It’s wonderful to announce our partnership with Best Places to Work (BPTW) after their inaugural event last year, where we supported the Tech and Tools Category. Our collaboration is grounded in a shared vision: supporting New Zealand’s tech sector to lead the way in workplace culture and employee experience.
We all know the best tech solutions are powered by people. It is our people who are driving innovation, productivity, and sustainable growth across Aotearoa, and we can accelerate their impact through positive workplace change. BPTW is an excellent platform to both celebrate those who are leading the charge and build capability within the sector. I look forward to sharing the benefits of this partnership with our members very soon.
The AI Forum’s new productivity report will be available online this evening, after its official launch.
Ngā mihi nui,
Graeme Muller
