Netsafety Week 2025 : Building a safer digital future for Aotearoa

As digital technology becomes an even greater part of everyday life, creating a safe online environment is more critical than ever. Netsafety Week 2025 is a timely reminder that online safety is a shared responsibility, one that requires collaboration across the tech sector, government, educators and the wider community.

At NZTech, we champion initiatives that support positive online experiences for all New Zealanders. This week, we’re highlighting the importance of digital wellbeing, responsible digital citizenship, and practical steps organisations can take to protect their teams and communities.

Our tech community is uniquely positioned to lead by example by developing tools, policies, and educational initiatives that help foster safer digital spaces. Whether it’s through innovative platforms, robust cybersecurity practices, or supporting The Code, our community is already making a difference.

Netsafety Week is an opportunity to:

• Raise awareness about online risks and how to manage them
• Promote digital inclusion, ensuring everyone feels safe and welcome online
• Encourage responsible digital behaviour, from the boardroom to the classroom
• Support industry-wide collaboration, sharing knowledge and resources to address new and emerging threats
