NZTech Inform: Introducing your new NZTech Board

Kia ora,

What a week for Aotearoa’s tech community! From inspiring young women during ShadowTech25 to industry-defining conversations on digital trust, we’re proud to see our members leading the way, together.

🎉 That’s a wrap on ShadowTech25!

ShadowTech25 concluded last week after giving hundreds of Year 9-11 girls from across Aotearoa hands-on experiences in tech workplaces. From Waikato to Wellington and beyond, students explored the possibilities of a tech career, heard from trailblazing women, and discovered the real-world impact they can have in our industry. Thank you to TechWomen, supporters, and all host organisations for helping to build a more diverse and vibrant tech workforce.

👀 Digital Trust Hui Taumata event highlights

Last week’s Digital Trust Hui Taumata brought together leaders from industry, government and community to advance digital trust in New Zealand. The hui highlighted the need for collaboration and a people-first approach, prioritising transparency, privacy and user control over data.

Key insights included embedding trust and security into technology design from the outset and developing strong governance and ethical standards for AI and digital identity systems. Education and digital literacy were highlighted as vital for empowering New Zealanders to navigate the digital world confidently.

Speakers agreed on the importance of fit-for-purpose regulation that balances innovation with protection and emphasised digital inclusion for all. As digital identity becomes critical infrastructure, now is the time for action and delivery, making trust central to strategy, championing inclusion, and ensuring community voices are heard.

Let’s lead together in building a trusted, inclusive digital future for Aotearoa.

💥 CryptoWinter’25 debut ignites innovation
