NZTech Update – Gearing Up For Digital Tech In Schools

Kia Ora Readers,

Introducing digital technologies to every child’s learning is critical for their success in an increasingly digital world.

To better prepare our nation’s children and young people to participate, create and thrive in our rapidly evolving digital world, our education system is adding digital technologies into the curriculum from Year 1 starting in 2018. The process has included consultation across the country and intensive design to build the new addition to the curriculum. The Ministry has prepared a summary of the process so far, you can read it here.

Without a doubt, changing the national curriculum is a massive undertaking, so I encourage you to learn more about and actively look for ways to encourage and support your local schools. Here’s what businesses and industry leaders need to know.

This is an incredibly important development and I don’t want to leave you with mixed messages. Digital technologies will be launched at the start of 2018 and it is expected that every school at every level will be teaching digital technologies by 2020.

Have a great week and please don’t forget to RSVP for our Christmas drinks.
