It’s been a great time in the tech space with the NZ Hi-Tech Awards being hosted in Wellington last Friday. With a turnout of close to 1100 people, including the Prime Minister and the Mayor of Wellington, it was a night to enjoy all the great innovation being developed here in Aotearoa. Congratulations to all the finalists and winners – it was great to see so many members from the wider Tech Alliance grace the stage and be acknowledged for all their hard work.
What was amazing to see was the number of winners and finalists who utilise location technology within their work. Here are a few winner highlights:
The Best Hi-Tech Solution for Public Good was won by GNS Science and NIWA for their risk modelling tools that help enable users to assess risks, from natural hazards, to buildings, infrastructure and people.
The Most Innovative Hi-Tech Software Solution was won by Auror, a retail crime intelligence platform that utilises mapping software to help detect hotspots for crime and assist response teams to allocate the correct resources.
The Hi-Tech Start-up Company of the Year was won by Seen Safety, a pedestrian safety system that utilises IRIS 860 sensors to protect lives from forklifts and other mobile machines.
The Hi-Tech Company of the Year was won by Seequent, an industry-leading Earth modelling, geo-data management solution to enable new ways to manage risks and uncover valuable insights from data.
I would also like to send a congratulations to our LocationTech member Reveal for being a Finalist in the Most Innovative Hi-Tech Service category. From their expertise in geophysics, utility surveying and 3D modelling, they have broken into the digital twin space to help reveal the truth of the subsurface.
It’s great to see so many finalists and winners at the Hi-Tech Awards who champion location technology – it shows that location tech is ever-changing and an integral technology for future innovation. Congratulations to everyone, and I hope to see you all next year.
