NZTech Inform – Driving Māori tech empowerment

Kia ora,

During my nine years doing this job, I have met a number of people who are constantly giving their time and energy to help create a better Aotearoa New Zealand. In particular, when it comes to inspiring Māori in the tech sector, the same few are driving initiatives, speaking at events and working hard to make a difference.

Last week, the Te Ao Matihiko kāwanatanga board met for the first time in Ōtautahi. Their mission is to empower and celebrate Māori in digitech. Driven by the guidance of their three waka: Te Hapori Matihiko people, Te Matarau advocacy and Te Pae Tawhiti legacy. Their kaupapa aims to support an increase in representation and participation in the digitech sector, both in Aotearoa and abroad. Congratulations on this important mahi, it marks a significant step towards meaningful change.
