Inspiring the next generation

Kia ora,

During the next two weeks, more than 1000 secondary school girls across Aotearoa will experience the tech industry. They’ll spend a day at leading tech companies, nationwide. Thanks to our supporters, this year ShadowTech Day is being hosted in Gisborne and Timaru. Participation has also increased overall with more students and workplaces involved.

Our ShadowTech programme is an important initiative to help inspire girls to pursue education pathways that lead to tech careers. Why? Because a diverse workforce is crucial for our industry’s continued success. Read more.

Later this week, the 2024 AI Hackathon festival begins. I’m looking forward to seeing creative solutions to real-world problems and meeting the finalists at the Aotearoa AI Summit next month.

We’re once again supporting Unlock Innovation’s survey to learn more about unrecognised and underutilised talent. Please help us unlock hidden dyslexic talent and contribute to a more inclusive workplace. Take the survey here.

In other news, new NZTech Board members will be announced at our AGM on 15 August. New Executive Council will be announced at the AgriTechNZ Annual Meeting on 13 August. Voting is underway for BlockchainNZ and BioTechNZ is now accepting nominations.

Ngā mihi
