2024 FintechNZ AGM Recap: A Year of Growth and Strategic Focus

The FintechNZ AGM, held at GridAKL, provided an inspiring look back at a transformative year, marked by growth, strategic initiatives, and expanded advocacy. The meeting highlighted FintechNZ’s mission to build a connected, innovative fintech community that drives positive impact across New Zealand.

Key achievements over the past year include stronger partnerships with other communities within the NZTech Group including NZTech and BlockchainNZ, impactful policy engagements, and the successful delivery of events such as the annual Fintech Hui, which brought together 365 attendees, 61 speakers, and 27 sponsors. FintechNZ also focused on boosting its global reach through international delegations, connecting Kiwi fintech companies with markets in Hong Kong, Australia, and beyond.

Looking forward, FintechNZ is doubling down on its strategic goals to support sustainable finance, improve digital safety, and drive innovation in the fintech sector. The team plans to deepen engagement with government to address policy barriers, particularly in areas like regulatory sandboxing and open banking. FintechNZ also aims to strengthen its community by attracting more corporate members and expanding its role in digital education and talent development.

As the sector navigates rapid changes, FintechNZ remains committed to being a powerful voice for fintech in New Zealand, advocating for a resilient, inclusive, and globally competitive ecosystem.
