Visit Tech AllianceKia ora,
Welcome to Autumn! The clocks have recently turned back and the days have slowly become a bit shorter, but that doesn’t mean IoT has stopped accelerating.
Towards the end of March, NZTech hosted the Cyber Security Summit in Wellington which gathered a great crowd of security professionals keen to hear from our frontline community of New Zealand’s intelligence agencies, tech founders and even the Privacy Commissioner. As a recently appointed Executive Council Member, I had the chance to sit on a panel with fellow cyber leaders, representing the IoT Alliance, to discuss protecting critical assets and ‘smarter’ systems as we see products and organisations fast-follow in large IoT projects to become more competitive and productive.
In the background, the Executive Council has been getting into the rhythm of our new structure and have been dreaming up events, white paper ideas and ways to promote the industry and interests in New Zealand. More on this soon.
What’s coming up?
Possibly the most recognisable event coming up will be Aotearoa’s largest national technology festival, Techweek, from 19-25 May.
IoT Alliance will be hosting a casual mid-winter gathering in mid-June. No speakers, just food, drinks and a chat with your mates about life and IoT. If you’re based in Auckland and keen to join in – RSVP here and more details will come to your inbox. Feel free to bring along non-member friends, just let us know in the form!
Finally, we want to ensure we are seeking member engagement as frequently as possible – this is a community built by the people for the people. So, if you are attending an event or have an interesting IoT project on your radar worth sharing with the community, let us know here in this form and we will help share the news.
We hope you enjoy this month’s newsletter and thank you for your continued support.
Ngā mihi,
Jenna Whitman
Co-Chair, Executive Council
