This week is New Zealand Cyber Smart Week and we’ve partnered with CERT to help raise awareness. Are you secure online? Make sure of it! is the 2019 theme and it’s a timely reminder we are all vulnerable to cyber attack. No one is immune and it’s especially important to help friends and family who are new to tech. We can all benefit from self-assessment and this cyber safety quiz is a great place to start. Meanwhile, cyber attacks are costing New Zealand millions of dollars and we will be examining the issue more closely this week at our annual summit. I look forward to seeing many of you on Wednesday in Wellington for both the Cyber Security Summit and the 2019 NZ Digital Identity Summit.
Also in Wellington this week, on Thursday evening is the 2019 NZ Spatial Excellence Awards. This year’s finalists have continued to deliver world class examples of how using geospatial technology is delivering tangible benefits and increasing productivity for New Zealand.
My week also includes meetings with Minister Faafoi to discuss his Government digital services portfolio (including digital identity and cyber security) and New Zealand First’s Clayton Mitchell about R&D tax credits and tech as an economic development opportunity.
Have a great week.
