Digital skills for our digital future

Kia ora,

Stand by this week for the launch of the 2020 Digital Skills Survey. We are refreshing the national digital skills survey to establish a new baseline of current digital skills in the market and identifying required skills. We will be surveying the tech sector, large corporate IT teams and Government agencies. Your help is essential, as this information will support the development of better education pathways for the talented staff needed in the tech sector. It will also inform the immigration settings and help ensure critical highly skilled digital workers can start entering New Zealand.

On Thursday, join me as I host a discussion with MFAT and NZTE about the world’s first digital trade agreement (DEPA) between New Zealand, Singapore and Chile. What is it, why it is important and how to make the most of it. This is an excellent opportunity to discuss DEPA with our trade negotiators and ask questions directly.

Meanwhile, with so much fake news out there, it was great to see the launch of the 5G Facts website explaining in simple terms what 5G is, how radio waves work, and quotes and links from reputable experts. It’s a great site to refer anyone you know who is concerned about 5G.

Earlier in the year, our Chief Strategy Officer, Julie Gill, participated in a round table discussion about embracing opportunity in a post-COVID-19 world. Read the summary, Let’s Rethink How the World Works here.

Have a great week!

Ngā mihi
