• New Zealand currently has 56 operational data centres, with 20 more planned or under construction.
• The sector underpins $16.5 billion in ICT GDP and enables a further $76.5 billion in knowledge-intensive services, driving thousands of high-value jobs across the country.
• NZ data centres are leaders in energy efficiency (average PUE 1.3 vs 1.54 global average) and are rapidly shifting to 100% renewable energy, leading to new clean energy projects.
• NZ data centres employ over 1,000 directly, support 6,800 more, and forecast to double its workforce by 2030, plus up to 15,000 construction jobs as new centres are built.
• Over $10 billion in investment over the next decade will generate significant tax revenue and support public services, while boosting regional growth and creating new digital hubs.
• New Zealand is well positioned as a regional export hub for sustainable digital services, thanks to abundant renewables, a stable political climate, and innovation in energy and water efficiency.
