Forecasting for Business – Data and Machine Learning

Forecasting accuracy is constantly being improved with the continual introduction of newer data science and machine learning techniques.

In this one-day workshop, we will explore how predicting with machine learning and regression models is a key method for forecasting future, outcomes and trends.

In business, forecasting demand is becoming an increasingly difficult challenge. Trends are driven by complex factors which are difficult to predict and are constantly changing as new technology changes consumer behaviour. Understanding demand variability with manual tools is simply too complex for most business leaders and managers.

Machine learning provides a huge opportunity to take vast amounts of data and to learn from it – thereby helping to address many of these challenges. Some of the largest and most innovative companies on the planet rely on machine learning to run their business operations – including Google, Amazon and Netflix to name a few.

Topics we will cover include:

  • What machine learning is and the role of data
  • The different applications of machine learning as a tool for forecasting the future, outcomes and trends
  • Real-world examples including: how can you predict who your future customers will be? Which products will these customers buy?
  • Opportunities for innovators and businesses to forge new connections and insights

The workshop is designed and delivered by Farhad Medhipour and Matthew Walker, experts in big data, data science, machine learning and artificial intelligence.
