Is Digital the solution for NZ Sustainability Challenges?

Like many enterprises around the globe, NZ companies have massively invested in digital transformations. At the same time, NZ companies have been setting up net-zero targets and have been engaging in addressing sustainability challenges, be these environmental, social or economic. These two issues, digital transformation and sustainability, have been driving many strategic decisions at NZ boards, however, with a noticeable disconnect between these two functions.

The Centre of Digital Enterprise (CODE) at the University of Auckland Business School believes that NZ enterprises should create bridges between the sustainability and IT/digital functions. In partnership with Tata Consultancy Services, CODE studied the readiness of 195 APAC firms to deploy digital solutions when addressing sustainability solutions. The study created an Index of relative performance across 11 countries. NZ is far from being a market leader when it comes to digital sustainability. To start the digital sustainability journey, any IT, digital or sustainability leader should enter this discourse and be able to examine its digital strategy through the lens of sustainability needs and evaluate sustainability challenges by conversing with digital leaders.

To facilitate this exchange and start developing a platform upon which practitioners, policy makers and academics can exchange ideas, the Centre of Digital Enterprise is inviting you to attend this event during which we will hear from top experts in the area of sustainability and digital strategy how they view the sustainability challenges for NZ enterprises, and how digital solutions could help in addressing these sustainability challenges.
