NZTech Update – AI’s Impact On New Zealand!

In case you missed it, last week, Minister Curran announced the second half of her Digital Advisory Group.  The final seven members are Amber Craig, Cathy Hardinge, Robyn Kamira, Gregory Morgan, David Moskovitz, Damon Odey and Michael Taitoko.  They join the first eight with the Chair, Frances Valintine.  Their first order of business will be to assist the Minister with the appointment of a CTO.

Techweek’18 is getting closer with the announcement of plenty of interesting, high quality speakers across numerous events.  Arama Kukutai, kiwi-born venture capitalist based in the US will be one of the keynote speakers at the headline agritech event in Tauranga, 10 Billion Mouths.

Events are being held throughout New Zealand with communities building fantastic local programmes to help inspire the next generation into tech and showcase their best.  The Waikato programme includes a Maori business panel and tech showcase as well as an IoT Tour.  In Christchurch there are already 61 events lined up, including Emerging Tech in Health, the Fourth Revolution hi-tech manufacturing headline event and the Hi-Tech Awards.  Don’t leave it too late, start planning your week now.

Meanwhile, this week, the big news is the launch of the year long analysis of the impact of artificial intelligence (AI) on New Zealand by the AI Forum.  I’m looking forward to attending the report launch in Wellington on Wednesday.

Enjoy your week.
