Visit Tech AllianceNZTech Inform – Showcasing tech careers to teachers
You may be familiar with our award winning ShadowTech programme, inspiring girls to consider the tech industry and career paths. For 2021, we have expanded this programme and now introduce ShadowTech Teachers!
Teachers and career advisors play an influential role by guiding and informing students about possible career pathways. However, unless they have personally worked in the industry, it can sometimes be tricky to navigate the various pathways. ShadowTech Teachers is here to help!
ShadowTech Teachers provides an informal setting to provide insight into the range of roles available, foundational skills, possible academic pathways and what tech workplaces look like.
This is your opportunity to be involved and mentor secondary school teachers next year, 22-26 February. We will arrange for two local teachers or career advisors to visit your workplace for a half a day. You can talk them through your role and career, discussing types of skills and qualifications that are generally required. Mentor registrations close on 18 December, so please express your interest now.
I was aiming to launch the Digital Skills report prior to Christmas, however we’ve just been provided with some great new data! We are working the data into the report and delaying its release until January. If you had the report on your holiday reading list and are looking for something else to read now, check out the rest of NZTech’s reports and publications.
Have a great week.
Ngā mihi
