Supporting SaaS growth | Knowledge sharing

Kia ora,

I was impressed to learn that almost 1000 New Zealand software-as-a-service (SaaS) businesses have signed up to the KiwiSaaS community. This initiative is supported by the Digital Technologies Industry Transformation Plan (ITP) and is designed to help the fastest growing part of the tech sector grow even faster through rapid connections and knowledge sharing.

For example, Callaghan Innovation has created capital education resources to help businesses understand the equity capital raising process in New Zealand. No matter what age or stage your SaaS company or innovation is at, these resources offer expert advice on how to raise the capital needed to build a thriving business.

Another great initiative supported by the Digital ITP is the Tech Story. The See Tomorrow First campaign has been building traction internationally, raising awareness to help our tech exporters grow, raise capital and attract talent. The See Tomorrow First website is also loaded with useful resources, including market insight guides for international markets.

These initiatives are important investments by the Government to keep the tech sector growing, creating thousands of new high paying new jobs every year and billions of dollars of exports. If you are ever looking for the latest metrics on the New Zealand tech sector check out our About the Tech Sector page on the NZTech website, or our annual Tech Metrics report.

This week, my focus is on the final review of our upcoming report on the importance of technology to support New Zealand’s emissions reductions and climate change adaptation. Following months of surveys and co-design sprints we have developed a framework to ensure technology’s impact is planned and not accidental. Look out for the report in late November.

Also next month, join the inaugural French Tech NZ Awards Night on 2 November in Auckland. The awards celebrate companies in Aotearoa New Zealand and in the French Pacific Islands for their innovation, value to the economy and their connection to France.
