Spotlight on sustainability

This month, FinTechNZ’s Sustainability working group contributed to NZTech’s Climate Technology roadmap proposal to several Government agencies.

Our two co-chairs, Mitchell Pham and Leeanna Kohn-Hardy, hosted a Roundtable Hui with the Centre of Sustainable Finance (CSF) in August. This roadmap extends beyond the Emissions Reduction Plan 2, to address sustainability challenges in various sectors. Representatives from our working group included Cogo, Generate Zero, RIPA and the Toha Foundry. Other attendees included representatives from the Ministry for the Environment, banks, investment companies, and major accounting firms.

Insights included challenges with access to funding, focusing on cooperation rather than competition, lack of climate taxonomies and key data and cost-effective methods for testing and validating innovative solutions.  If you would like to find out more or get involved, please contact Mitchell or Leeanna.

Looking ahead to next year’s FinTechNZ Hui Taumata there is an opportunity to participate in a sustainability themed session. If this interests you and you would like to be involved, please contact Jason.
