Kia ora,
Last week, I met with my counterpart from the Netherlands, Petra Claessen, CEO of BTG, who was visiting to learn more about TechweekNZ. This follows last year’s successful launch of TechweekNL. The Dutch tech sector is experiencing similar digital skills and diversity challenges and Petra was interested in the development of our vibrant TechWomen community and how we use Techweek to raise awareness of opportunities.
Also from Europe, there is exciting news from the New Zealand Trade and Enterprise (NZTE) team! They’re currently recruiting 20 businesses to join them at VivaTech in Paris, 22-25 May. VivaTech is Europe’s largest tech startup and scale-up show and being part of NZTE stand offers high visibility and networking opportunities. Register here.

Coming up this week, join the Startup Ecosystem Enablers Meetup tomorrow and discover insights into Air New Zealand’s deployment of passkeys at Digital Identity NZ’s members-only event. If you would like to know more about transforming urban environments with IoT, join the IoT Alliance’s free webinar on 22 February.
If you’re in Wellington on Sunday 10 March, discover the heartbeat of Wellington’s biotech scene at the Only in Wellington Touchdown Event. Find out more here. Plus, next month, attend the annual KiwiSaas event, Southern SaaS 2024.
Today, I am with the executive council of EdTechNZ refreshing their strategy. Aotearoa’s edtech exports begin in our education system, providing learning tools, while also creating jobs and export revenues.
This part of the New Zealand tech sector is our unsung hero, so I’m looking forward to helping boost EdTechNZ in 2024.
Ngā mihi
Graeme Muller
CEO, NZTech
