Tech for a greener future

Kia ora,

What is a climate technology roadmap and why do we need one? This is the question we’ll be answering on Thursday at the launch of our latest report in the Digital Nation series.

New Zealand has a long road ahead to meet its emissions targets and tech is crucial for a greener future. ClimateTech is also a substantial growth opportunity with a global market valued at $20 billion and set to reach $100 billion by 2030.

During 2023, NZTech undertook several surveys and sector sprints to gain valuable insights into the many roles of tech in emissions reductions. Climate technology roadmaps are global best practice and as we gathered local insights we developed a framework to help develop a uniquely New Zealand roadmap. Keep an eye out for this week’s launch of our Technology for Emissions Reduction – A Framework for Aotearoa’s Climate Technology Roadmap report. Join us on Thursday in Auckland.

Techweek24 preparations are well underway and the programme will be announced mid-April. However, it’s not too late to submit your event. Read more.

We’re also delighted to announce the return of ShadowTech Day in August. Our programme offers girls in years 9-11 an opportunity to discover the world of tech, spark their curiosity and explore career pathways.

Currently we’re accepting school registrations and we’ll be sending more information in the coming weeks. However, please help us promote ShadowTech Day directly to schools in your area. If you or your team know students attending secondary school, please share this information for their digital tech teacher or careers advisor.

On Tuesday I‘m joining the EdTechNZ team in Wellington to welcome the Australian National Education Digital Advisory Group (NEDAG). The federal and state education CIO’s and digital purchasers are visiting Aotearoa to discuss Safer Technologies for Schools and other ANZ initiatives.

If you’re interested in hearing about the global growth of New Zealand edtech please join us from 5pm. Register here.

Ngā mihi
