Visit Tech AllianceNZTech Update – Future leaders, Canterbury growth and how to win in 2017
Hi Readers
Last week, in Wellington, we attended NZTech’s end of year drinks and celebrated the launch of FLINT (Future Leaders in Technology). These young people were inspiring, energetic, keen to network and will ultimately be future leaders of New Zealand’s technology sector. I was impressed with the 50/50 gender split as many IT events are male orientated, which is not surprising given that women make up only 23% of those employed in IT occupations. Next year, I encourage you to be more involved and support NZTech’s initiatives NZTech Women, Shadow Tech Day and nominate women for awards like the 2017 NZ Hi Tech Awards.
Along with our Chair, Mitchell Pham, we attended the Canterbury Tech AGM and Quiz Night in Christchurch, engaging with more vibrant kiwi tech leaders. The NZTech Alliance with Canterbury Tech continues to grow and expand with NZTech providing greater advocacy and connectedness on a national basis. There is great support from the Canterbury Tech Sector for Techweek’17 and we are really looking forward to this showcase of innovation.
