Last week, NZTech, NZRise and IITP welcomed members to a briefing from the GCIO’s office on the ICT Marketplace designed for the New Zealand Government to procure cloud services.  DIA’s, Government ICT Supply Strategy Manager, Ron Stuart, briefed over 200 members at events in Auckland and Wellington.

As a result of the trust’s policy of regularly refreshing its Board, the trustees of New Zealand’s Hi-Tech Trust are seeking new members to join the Board of Trustees. The workload is relatively light with 2-3 meetings a year, including a day-long strategy session, and attending the Hi-Tech Awards  (the organisation of which is outsourced).

Job vacancies and recruitment within IT continues to rise, especially in retail and manufacturing.   We are also seeing a steady demand for candidates with cloud experience.  Meanwhile, IT salaries remain stable, some roles reporting a decline in remuneration whilst increases are reported in niche areas such as Network Designers, DevOps experts and Virtualisation Specialists.
